The month of November definitely came by without being unnoticed. In fact,it left its mark in our lives forever.
It started off with my son getting sick (apparently nausog!) Although some people still refuse to believe this fact. I don't really mind. Really doesn't matter whether people believe it or not. As for me, it's just mother's intuition.
There's nothing worse than seeing your child ailing, immobile with no appetite and dehydrated.
Sure he'd been sick before but nothing quite like this one. I've seen him sick with high grade fever at that and he manages to run around, ride his bike and turn the house upside down. With a 39 deg fever at that.
I'm very sure this was out of any ordinary cough and cold. As it turns out, it was caused by supernatural forces. Howeverso, I am truly amazed at how God works in my life. In the midst of this adversity, God was also looking after my family's welfare.
While we were at the hospital, just an hour after being admitted to our room, news came that a fire was eating up our house. I could not believe that this could ever happen to me and my family. Never in my wildest imaginations that I would one day be a recepient of this dreadful news.
Nothing has ever prepared me to hear such terrible information.
My husband and I have always made it appoint to follow safety measures. YOu can call us "praning" but we take turns checking and double checking whether the doors are locked before we retire at night, whether the gas tank is shut off and all that.We do take extra precautions just to make sure that our family is safe in the four corners of our humble abode. So how could there be a fire in our house?
It was just so overwhelming watching my son so weak and fragile in the hospital and knowing that our house was on fire. There is nothing worse than the feeling of helplessness.
I could only wait for news what the extent of damage fire has left our house. Nothing is really really worse than this experience. I only remember sinking into a chair and whispering a short prayer that God would spare at least half of our house.
Within minutes, alone in the hospital room with my son asleep, it sank in to me that we no longer have a house to go home to. I only thanked God that my son was with me at that very moment. Thinking that if he had not been sick that day, I had gone to work and left him with his yaya at home. I could not fathom how I could have reacted given the circumstances were different.
As I came to this realization, almost instantly, I let go of any attachment to material things. I just accepted it and thanked God that each one of my family member, including my househelper was safe. And as if by miracle, my husband called me and informed me that our house was untouched by the fire. No damage at all. Not a single drop of water from the firetrucks that extinguished the fire.
This is a Miracle unfolded right before me! In many ways, I have seen the power of prayer but this is just one big proof of the power of the Holy Spirit working in my life. A split second of prayer can make a world of difference. I have not expected that our house would not be damaged. I was preparing myself with what I would hear. But with great miracle we were spared.
It only left us with 10 or more days without electricity. Of which, I couldnt complain. I know that God had protected our small dwelling and the people that live in there and we could live with 10 days without electricity. Its better than having no house and personal belongings at all!!
To this day, I am very much thankful and awed with God's grace.
The fire totally damaged the main house but it could have been worsed. Thanks to the neighbors, an entire compound could have been burned to ashes.
We were discharged from the hospital 3 days after the fire broke out. I could not help but imagine where could we be heading if we lost everything. How could I make my son well and help him recover if we don't have a house to go home to.
All these were the thougts that played into my mind as we headed home.
Never have I been more happy to go home. I have always wished to have a wider house and a bigger space for my family. But this experience taught me to be thankful for everything that I have, and be grateful for each tiny blessing. For great blessings could be disguised in small ones. And this, turned out to be one of them.
I just keep praising God for this life changing situation...
Thank you Lord. I know that there are times that I lack the time to pray.
I know that sometimes I am just too tired to whisper a short prayer of thanks for your wonderful blessings. But despite my shortcomings, you have protected me and my family serious harm. I praise your name and pray for your continued protection.
As I leave for manila, I pray that you be the one to bless and protect me and my family for all forms of harm. Keep us all safe and healthy, Lord, we offer to you back all the glory, in Jesus mighty name.
